Donna Creighton, is well known for her pure voice and as an impressive multi-instrumentalist. A classically trained vocalist, and a veteran of the recorder, she has been performing since the age of 5. She is an accomplished, versatile singer of traditional music, and her approach to songwriting reflects both her candid take on life and remarkable agility with changing tempos, directions and styles. She has been described as a delightful stage personality who can steal your heart and openly hand you hers in return. Donna Creighton is no stranger to London’s music scene. She is a Canadian-acclaimed singer/songwriter, who has 4 times won the London Music Award for Folk/World/Celtic (2003 and 2004) and twice been awarded the Jack Richardson Award. She is actively involved in Donna Creighton Productions and well recognized throughout our community as a 10 year member of Sirens, In 2005, Donna won the “Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting Award” for “Come Here to Me” in the Great American Songwriting Contest. In 2005 & 2006 Donna performed in the acclaimed Remembrance Day production “Hearts Made Great” with the London Orchestra. This tenacious woman also gives generously of her time and talents to many of London’s local charities, organizations and has participated in many fund-raisers. Donna Creighton Productions is one avenue through which Donna Creighton continues her creative and charitable work in the London area.
Ms Creighton is an Honours graduate of The University of Western Ontario in English and Drama in addition to her B.Ed. She continues to enhance her skills through continued study with London-based conductor/composer Jeff Christmas and Boston-based Joey Blake, member of Voicestra and Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music.
She is at present writing songs for a solo recording project and writing a one woman show called Northern Daughter. She continues as an occasional teacher of music, drama and English, lead songwriting workshops in the US and Canada, and has judged Talent competitions.
Over the past 10 years she has toured North America with Sirens sharing the stage with countless talented musicians, including Bruce Cockburn, Valdy, Bruce Guthro, Parachute Club, Fred J. Eaglesmith, Don Ross, Arrogant Worms, Georgette Fry, Moxy Früvous, Philosopher Kings and Lisa Loeb.
In her spare time, she can be found hanging around with her flat coat retriever Wig, being bucked off horses at full gallop, paddling a canoe in a Canadian lake, or renovating her house.
