Donna is a classically trained vocalist with the Royal Conservatory of Music, and a veteran of the recorder which she picked up in grade 4, got hooked on the Friendly Giant children's TV show and never put the thing down again. She has been performing since the age of 5. According to her baby book, she was "playing songs on the piano (left hand only) at 2 1/2 and whistling any familiar tune". When asked she says, "Music, especially singing, is like breathing and walking to me. I don't remember learning. I just do it"
Now with some life behind her, her approach to songwriting reflects both her candid take on life and remarkable agility with changing tempos, directions and styles. She has been described as a delightful stage personality who can steal your heart and openly hand you hers in return: both a blessing and a curse. Canadian Playwright, Vern Theissen says, "she is an inspiration to me...writes with truth, honesty and no bullshit...talented, smart and funny as hell".
She is a Canadian-acclaimed singer/songwriter. Nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award, has 4 times won the London Music Award for Folk/World/Celtic and twice been awarded the Jack Richardson Award. Ms Creighton is an Honours graduate of The University of Western Ontario in English and Drama in addition to her B.Ed. She continues to enhance her skills through continued study.
Over the past 10 years she has toured North America with Sirens sharing the stage with countless talented musicians, including Bruce Cockburn, Valdy, Bruce Guthro, Parachute Club, Fred J. Eaglesmith, Don Ross, Arrogant Worms, Georgette Fry, Moxy Früvous, Philosopher Kings and Lisa Loeb.
Welcome to her solo career.
